ACW The Anglican Church Women at St. Barnabas' Church have two groups. The Pollyanna A.C.W. meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in the lounge. They do several outreach programs and have a wonderful baked goods table at the bazaar. They sponsor a couple of lunches during the year. Ann Archer is the new president of the Pollyanna's. The other group is the Friendship Circle A.C.W. that meet the second Tuesday of the month from 7-9 p.m. In the fall they make crafts to be sold at the Snowflake Bazaar. They sponsor some lunches and other activities during the year. Mary Jane Winterton is the president of the Friendship Circle. The two groups meet occasionally to co-ordinate their program. They have sent bales to Keewatin, sponsored a Foster child for years, and do funeral lunches when asked. If you are interested in joining one of our groups, please contact us or come out on a Tuesday or Wednesday night and join us in the Lounge! |
BAC The Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen (BAC) has been a long-standing social and sometimes work orientated organization in St. Barnabas' parish. The continuing activity is an 8 o’clock breakfast meeting on the second Sunday of the month, prepared by a small group of volunteer BAC men. This year, ladies of the parish have been invited to the breakfast so that it has become essentially a parish monthly event, enjoyed by everybody. Breakfast is served at 8 a.m. and cleanup is finished before the 9:15 weekly church service. Occasionally, a ten-minute presentation by a local expert or organizer adds to the occasion. BAC men are often recruited or volunteer to help with parish jobs or activities, for example the Saturday Lunch at the annual Bazaar and the Good Friday Fish Fry. The parish BAC chapter belongs to the Diocese of Huron BAC (www.bac. diohuron.org) that sponsors the annual BAC Conference, this year to be held in Windsor from April 29 to May 1, 2011. Join us next on Sunday, Feb 13th, 2011 at 8 am. All are welcome to come! Don't forget to bring your sweetheart! |
| Altar Guild The Altar Guild is the group responsible for setting up the Altars for all church services. They work hard each week to ensure that the church and Altar look beautiful and that flowers are always present. The Altar Guild also takes on the task of making the palm crosses for Palm Sunday, and making the Christingle's for the special Christmas service. New members are always welcome!
