Each week's lesson is complimented with the books "One Room Sunday School" which provides a variety of activities so that children of all ages can enjoy and learn from the material. There are easier activities for the younger children and trickier material for the advanced kids, as we are, essentially, a one-room school!
Sunday School St. Barnabas' Church School runs every Sunday during the 9:15 am service from September to June. Children between the ages of 4 and 16 are invited to join us as we learn about the Bible in a fun and educational way. We join the congregation for communion at least twice a month, and have a talk time at the end of some services in which the students tell the Reverend and congregation what they have learned that day.

Nursery The Nursery has recently been relocated and is now in the corner of the Sunday School room. This allows parents easier access to their children for communion, and for the Sunday School children and Nursery children to work together occasionally. Volunteers work in the nursery every Sunday during the 9:15 am service, caring for your infants and young children (4 and under). The nursery is equipped with a variety of toys, books, and puzzles. There are at least 2 volunteers in the nursery each Sunday, all over the age of 16 with current criminal background checks on file. You can leave your children with us feeling secure and confident, while you enjoy the church service in peace.
Our Sunday School is online! Our students are invited to join our online Sunday School community, and keep us updated when they cannot be in church. Want to join our community? Check out our classroom at http://bitstripsforschools.com and email us if you would like to be added!
The Sunday School embarked on 3 important outreach programs in 2010. They held a clothing drive, and have adopted a giraffe, polar bear, and 2 lions through the Detroit Zoological Society. The children hosted coffee hours following the services on March 9th, March 21st, March 28th, and April 4th. All donations were greatly appreciated! |
