Services
The Anglican Church Lectionary moves through a 3-year cycle comprised of Year A, followed by Year B
and Year C. At the start of Advent this year (2010-2011), we entered Year A.

To find the readings for a particular week and Sunday Service in the coming Church year, begin by
clicking on 'Year A' below. A document page will open in your browser, including a left-panel containing
an index of Sundays during the year. To try it out, click on the 'First Sunday after Christmas', which will
open a document page that contains the relevant Old Testament Reading, Psalm, New Testament Reading
and the Gospel for that Sunday. Note that you can directly print or download to your computer the
document for any given Sunday, for further reading and contemplation. Do follow along in the readings
for each Sunday Service!

FOOD BANK SUNDAY

The first Sunday of every month we are holding a
"Food Bank" Sunday.  Please bring a non-
perishable food item to church with you on this
Sunday, or any Sunday that you attend church, if
possible.  On the first Sunday, the food will be
brought to the front with the offering, and will be
taken to the food cupboard at St. Mary's Anglican
Church following the service.
Notice Regarding Votive Candles and Prayer Liturgy at St.
Barnabas'
VOTIVE CANDLES and PRAYER LITURGY at St. Barnabas’

Following discussion and consultation between your Worship, Education and
Liturgy (WEL) Committee and Parish Council, and following-on from the discussion
at the 2010 Vestry Meeting, St. Barnabas’ will continue the recent practice of
reserving the lighting of the Paschal Candle for select services and special
occasions.

We will continue the past practice of lighting the Votive candles as an element of
personal petition and prayer, and including the petition of names in the Prayers of
the People (Intercessions).

The development of future liturgy surrounding personal prayer and celebration will
include a survey of what is being used in our sister Anglican Parishes in the
Deanery, with the plan to ‘borrow’ from these as may be useful in the development of
new and meaningful practices here at St. Barnabas’.

If you have any question, please feel free to contact any member of the WEL
Committee or Parish Council.
